after gorging on delicious super bowl party food last night, i’m de-toxing this morning with water. lots and lots of water. in between cups of coffee, of course (what kind of detox is that you ask? coffee is great for cleaning out one’s sytem. and i’ll leave it at that).
any way…we skipped around our menu last week a lot due to guests and dinners out that were canceled due to 21 inches of snow in one night (WHOPPING snowfall. kenny shoveled tunnels from the house to the driveway to the barn. they would be paths if we merely got a few inches, but we got almost a few feet. and we’re expected to get another half foot this week. aiy yai yai. how about a trip to an indoor water park? anyone?
Monday
breakfast: hot cereal with orange slices
dinner:chicken parmesan over spaghetti, salad
Tuesday
breakfast: pumpkin muffins, apple slices
dinner: golden spiced rice with chickpeas (from Feeding the Whole Family)
Wednesday
breakfast: gingersnap oatmeal (a-MAZING)
dinner: ground turkey sloppy joes, big ol’ salad (we loved the sloppy joe flavor of last week’s sloppy cornbread, but felt it was way too much cornbread and not enough meat. the meat sauce was delicious, so we’ll use it with homemade rolls today)
Thursday
breakfast: cold cereal, yogurt-n-fruit smoothies
dinner @ friends (making marshmallows and bread for fondue party)
Friday
breakfast: french toast, bananas
dinner: OUT for dinner (before family-bible-study)
Saturday
breakfast: daddy’s famous pancake breakfast
dinner: Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, peti pois (Family Valentine’s Dinner…watch for a post later this week)
Sunday
breakfast: fluffy baked doughnuts, clementines
dinner: Turkey leftovers…
That gingerbread oatmeal sounds delicious!
Do you have your baked doughnuts recipe published on your blog? I’ve never tried baked ones before…I’d love the recipe!
We liked the sloppy cornbread last Wednesday night, too, but also thought it was too much bread. LOVED the simple sauce, though!!!
colleen – i just linked the doughnuts in the menu to the recipe. we’ve made it a few times – i used a “mini tube cake” pan which makes 6 at a time – 10 “donut” total. we really like it. this time, we’re going to dip the tops in a lighter glaze than the recipe uses…the kids like the glaze!
seriously, that’s major snow. i’m amazed. BTW, love the new goats!
