kenny and i both grew up with home milk delivery. actually, i think kenny's was a bit more authentic as he grew up a little bit more out of suburbia than i did, and he remembers scraping cream off the top of his milk jugs. i just remember opening our door first thing in the morning and there would be several gallons of milk waiting for us once a week.

there are so many dairy farms out here, i thought for sure there would be home delivery. so i researched and found an almost-local farm that does deliver. they not only deliver milk, they deliver all dairy products, juices, teas, pastries, meats, eggs, and ice cream. how could i possibly NOT choose home milk delivery? right now, the higher prices are worth it since it's easier to get the milk at the front door instead of lugging two gallons in from the car.

but how can you pass up the opportunity? meet mark, our personal milkman, who was quite punctual at 8:30 this past monday morning (yes! a holiday!):

it's a good thing, too, as i can tell we're going to go through a lot of milk in the coming years. rowan has somehow learned to drink his milk from the jug already:

Wow! I remember home milk delivery, in glass quart bottles, with the cream on top -- but I'm a lot older than you are. Can you get your dairy to deliver in glass bottles? It really does make a difference in the flavor. How about certified raw milk and other raw dairy products? Can you get them legally in Pennsylvania? You can't here in Florida, unless you're serving them to your pet. Your home sounds lovely -- though I hardly dare ask how long your commutes must be.

No glass bottles. Some things you just can't get... :(

ETA: Kenny told me they didn't have milk delivery...but they did get their milk straight from a local farm. With the cream on top and everything.
