That post reminds me of one of the cruel things this age has done to mothers. The saying, "It takes a village to raise a child" has been abused and shouldn't ever mean that rearing children is any part of the state's job. But it does point out that a mother's life was much better when there were mothers, grandmothers, sisters, and friendly neighbors near at hand to share the burden (and the joy). Nowadays you're considered a wimp if full-time motherhood isn't a breeze -- after all, you have at least 40 hours/week your employed sisters don't have! We won't get into what you do that they don't: I know, but that's not the point at the moment. What I'm lamenting is the loss of family and community that used to help young mothers through the difficult times. On the plus side, though -- fathers are much more involved and helpful than they were even 20 years ago!

I agree. But it's also evolved back around with a new "face." I'm finding MUCH encouragement and emotional help through the internet and friends from afar who help me in the joyful burden.
But I do wish my sisters (in laws) and close friends and I did have contact on more daily basis so we could actually help each other out with the physical load!

Thank you for the link! Those words helped even me, with the sixth graders crabbing at each other and demanding justice, and shoving and wrestling each other because they don't know any other way at this age to show physical affection...
Life is good! Loved your text message!
