i'm taking a break from the fascinating conversation about the undeliciousness of V8 juice to talk about the weather (i'm getting the most comments over V8 juice..i should keep that in mind).

it's a whopping high of about 5 degrees out there. the windchill is in the negative double digits. our water line to the washing machine is frozen. our garbage hasn't been picked up yet (and they promptly pick it up between 3:30 and 4:30 a.m. EVERY week), school in pittsburgh is canceled (where it's a balmy 2 degrees warmer than here), kenny's car barely started this morning, and i just can't seem to get my hands warm.

how do people survive in places where this is typical winter weather?

There are not enough expletives to describe how much I hate this weather. I want to move home...

It isn't much warmer here in Baltimore!

The Bimmer told me to go back inside and come out when the Sun comes out and warms things up! The LCD display that tells me the temp, gas mileage, ave mph, etc actually SCROLLED through the display instead of instant switch... almost rearended Susan because I thought it was so funny and wasn't paying attention!

Yeah, it's the "dead of winter" here in Savannah, too. High today only going into the upper 50s. I know, y'all hate me right now....

Savannah - I know my friend Sues (who commented first in this post) "hates" you. :) She's desperately trying to move back home to South Carolina after having moved up north from GA last year. :)

Our furnace, an "efficient" model in 1988, has barely stopped running all day. I think I'll need to turn it down (again), and I'm seriously considering wearing gloves! If I was in the country, I'd install an efficient wood burning stove, and sit right next to it all day.

When Jason was a kid, his parents used to send him and his sisters to bed with hot bricks (warmed by the wood stove) wrapped in towels, to put by their feet.

I'm running around the house, turning off all lights and unneccessary appliances, hoping that the electric bill will counteract the gas bill. I'm sure it's all in vain. But keeping efficiency in mind, off the computer I go.
