i actually experienced post-vacation "let down" for a few hours on saturday. fortunately, it only lasted a few hours, otherwise, we'd be on our way back to another beach (where it isn't raining) right now.

sunday morning was lovely...woke up to partly sunny skies, black coffee in our mugs, and boys who love to snuggle. we put up a new hummingbird feeder on the deck, so we were entertained by "fly-bys" and territorial wars between the one lone male and about five females:

the boys couldn't get enough:

after church, adam went down for his only nap of the day which lasted a full 3 hours. he is, by far, our best sleeper. the older two boys sleep great now...but it took a few years for them to be great sleepers. the rest of us piled on our bed and watched...golf. way back before we had kids, kenny and i spent many a sunday afternoon watching golf in our room. you know when you have little ones, this happens rarely. but yesterday, the older two boys enjoyed their own down-time with us while it rained outside and the littlest one slept. such a nice way to be lazy: togetherness with background rain.

monday mornings are never the same...either the boys sleep in or wake up super early. this morning, adam woke up at 6:30 and the boys woke up at 8:30. today i will menu-plan, shop for a week's worth of food, begin tackling my piles of laundry, and perhaps a nice long trip to the library since it is rainy with a chance of more rain.

by the way...i did finish sawyer's pants just in time for our trip to the beach...but the picture didn't turn out as well as the others. here is the only picture i have (the boys just can't pose without being "rock stars!"):

Didn't you watch any of the Steeler game??? And, yes, I watched Tiger win another one.

The hummingbird feeder is great! Such fun.

So, what sort of stitch did you end up using for the pants? I finally sewed up something with knits (trainers for Elly), and it took me a few scrap pieces to get the tension right. I did both straight stitches and zigzags for the seams; sort of a faux serger technique.
