i don't know if anyone has followed the story of randy pausch, but it's quite an inspiration. carnegie mellon announced at its web site that he passed away from pancreatic cancer earlier today.

i've followed this story since i first heard it a few months ago. he has a wife and young children. like all stories of lives cut way too short, it breaks my heart.

Pancreatic cancer is such a tragedy. It is one of the fastest forming cancers. I lost a friend to it a few years back and he, too, was way too young. I don't know a lot abut randy pausch but I do remember reading some of his work with teaching computer programming when I was in grad school. I'll have to go back and do a little research on his approach (being in the field of adult education for computer technology makes me interested in this type stuff).
